Achievements of Integrated Education
Scheme:-
1. 52 Visually Impaired students have learnt
Braille language and they can read and write in Braille
language.
2. 30 Hearing Impaired students have leap
reading and sign language.
3. 32 Mentally Challenged have been trained
in motor development, A.D.L, reading, writing &
speaking. They have been trained in
performing social activities and also have been given
prevocational training and thus helping the families.

| Day Care Centers |
|
| Resource Room for educational services to children with all categories of disabilities |
| Trust
always believes to provide good qualitative educational services to the
disabled children. Trust has started resource room services having all the
essential equipment, learning aids and materials for the education of
disabled children. The 30-35 disabled children attend the resource room daily
and taught various educational, functional, and extracurricular activities. The
Resource Room Services has been started in Kapadwanj Block for experimental
basis. This project is run by Organization it self. |
| Mental Health Project |
| Every
year 11,000 People are diagnosed suffering from mental disorder in
Gujarat. Integration of People with Mental Disorders is project for
rehabilitation of Persons who are suffering from Severe Mental Disorders,
Schizophrenia, Mania and Depression through Community Based Rehabilitation. The
Royal Netharlands Embassy, New Delhi, funds this project; Blind People’s
Association was appointed Nodal Agency for implementing this project. Blind
People Association selected Shri. V.S.Gandhi Charitable Trust
for implementation in Kapadwanj. Due to this project, Mental illness is accepted as Disability and the issuance of
Disability Certificates and Disability Identity Cards made possible first time
in Gujarat. 436 persons were diagnosed, as suffering from Mental Disorder out
of this 76 are suffering from mania 159 are suffering from schizophrenia, 194
are suffering from Depression. 41
have been socially rehabilitated and 41 have been made economically
independent.

| Prevention of Blindness through Cataracts Campaign |
| Trust and Smt. Menaben Eye Hospital, Kapadwanj jointly organized the programme of “Cataract 1000” under the guidance of District Blindness Control Society since the year 2004. This was continued for this year also and 5 Cataract camps were organized in which 794 people were registered from different villages and 283 people were operated successfully in these camps. District Blindness Control Society – Kheda District, Nadiad. Sheth J.B. Mehta Hospital & Saraspur Sewa Trust, Ahmedabad extended their support in different ways. |
| Reproductive Child Health |

This project initiated by Health
Department, Government of Gujarat is
being implemented in Thavad-
Kashipura and Apruji villages of
Kapadwanj and Kathlal Taluka
respectively. The trust is
implementing this project as Field
NGO of Mother NGO- Jagrut Mahila
Sangathan. Under this project door
to door survey was done in both the
villages having total population of
16,024. 252 pregnant women and 456
children in the age group of 0 to 3
years were identified.
Vaccination was given to pregnant women as well as children. Camps were also held to bring awareness about family planning & health |
| Vocation & Vocational Services |

The trust
conducts various Vocational Training programmes in different trades and career
planning guidance for all kind of disables for their employment and
self-employment. A) Sewing & embroidery:- In this center about 32 persons are taking training. They are prepared for examination on completion of six months training. Those who have been successful in the examination are given the job of stitching the uniform for the school children. On an average each of them earns approximately Rs. 50 per day. B) Computer Training Centre:-This center is equipped with latest computers. Special Software is installed for blind persons. All types of training are given at this centre by qualified staff. Disabled students are given subsidy in fees. Course of computer hardware is also conducted at this center. Under Astawakra Yojna being implemented in Virpur Taluka 30 Disabled were given Basic Computer Training by Navjivan Foundation, Nadiad. C) Mobile Repairing Training Center:-This centre is equipped with all types of tools required for training of mobile repairing. 4 students have already completed the training and are self employed. |
| Trust as Training Institute |

Trust is involved in development of professionals in Disability Sector. Organization has been recognized as a Training Center under which following Training Programmes were conducted. A)
Diploma in Community Based Rehabilitation : Under
the affiliation with CBR Network (South Asia) – Bangalore from candidates
appeared in Diploma in CBR through Distance Education. We are happy to
acknowledge that with the guidance of the staff of the Trust all four of them
have passed. It is worth noting that two out of them got employment in DDRC and
one has joined the V.S.Gandhi Charitable Trust. B) FOUNDATION COURSE ON EDUCATION OF
CHILDREN WITH DISABILITIES (FC-SEDE) Rehabilitation Council of India (RCI) has
been set up under an act of Parliament of 1992 and is inter
alia empower to regulate and standardize syllabi for all
professionals needed for the special education of
rehabilitation of the disabled. The MOU has been signed
between Madhya Pradesh Bhoj university and
Rehabilitation Council of India. These courses aim to
develop understanding and basic competencies in teacher for
dealing children with Disabilities. The programmes will enable
them to imbibe knowledge, understanding, attitudes and skills
to impart education efficiently to children with various
disabilities. BPA – The nodal Agency of the Madhya
Pradesh BHOJ (Open) University (MPBOU) selected this trust as
a study centre for this course. 29 Primary teachers from various schools
of Kheda districts underwent a certificate course of 3 months.
This is a course recognized by RCI. At the end of this course
they were examined during which all 29 teachers passed their
examination and were given certificates by RCI. These teachers
are recognized as a Resource Person for the Pay Centre. This course was initiated and financed by
the Government of Gujarat under District Primary Education
Programme. C) Training of teacher under “SARVA SHIKSHA
ABHIYAN” Under this scheme class teachers of the class in which disable children are studying were given training to make them aware of the disabilities and understanding the problems of the disables. 630 teachers were given 3 days training and other 775 teachers were given one day training. |
